American Ballet Theatre

American Ballet Theatre, founded in 1940, is recognized as one of the great dance companies of the world and was designated America’s national ballet company by an act of Congress. Each summer it presents an acclaimed season of full-length classics at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. ABT is distinguished by its roster of international principal dancers and by a repertoire that embraces the nineteenth-century classics, the heritage of choreographers such as Antony Tudor and Jerome Robbins, and a vigorous programme of new creation. Its productions of "Swan Lake", "Giselle" and "Le Corsaire" are benchmarks of American classical dance. The company tours nationally and internationally and sustains a celebrated training pipeline through its Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, ensuring continuity at the highest level.
